The idea for Queue Pop came about with the introduction of the Solo Shuffle bracket in World of Warcraft, which is known for having long queues depending on the player's in-game role. Without Queue Pop, players are left with the option of either waiting by their computer for extended periods of time or risk missing the queue by leaving. While some solutions, like using remote desktop on a tablet or phone to monitor the queue, have been suggested, we found them unsatisfactory and decided to provide an alternative solution. Since Queue Pop is sound-based, it does not require an addon and can be used with multiple games. As a result, as time passes, it will support more games.
Queue Pop captures sounds on your computer and then utilizes
audio fingerprinting techniques to identify matchmaking sounds from games. When it detects a match from its fingerprinting data, it sends a notification to your linked mobile device. By utilizing sound, Queue Pop is versatile and can be easily adapted to a wide range of games.
Audio fingerprinting sounds familiar? It is the same technique utilized by music identifying apps such as Shazam and SoundHound.
